Councilwoman Emily Young Announces Re-Election Campaign for Russellville City Council, Ward 2 Position 1

Councilwoman Emily Young is officially announcing her campaign for re-election to the Russellville City Council, Ward 2 Position 1, pledging to continue building a stronger, more vibrant, welcoming, and business-friendly Russellville.

First elected in 2022, Young has worked to bring an entrepreneurial perspective to city government while advocating for responsible growth, improved quality of life, and greater support for local businesses. During her first term, she served on the Personnel Committee and represented the City through committee assignments such as Animal Control, Main Street Russellville, and the Friends of the Latimore House. Her focus has been on preserving what makes Russellville special while preparing the city for future growth.

“Serving the people of Ward 2 has been an incredible honor and an eye-opening learning experience I won’t soon forget. I’m running for re-election because I believe Russellville’s best days are still ahead. This council has built incredible momentum by working together, but there is still important work to do to make our city an even better place to live, work, raise a family, and start a business.”

Outside City Hall, Young is a well-known local entrepreneur and community advocate. She founded The Brainstorm Agency, Dog Ear Books, and Retro Roasts, and has invested in downtown Russellville through locally owned businesses that have helped create welcoming destinations for residents and visitors alike. Her work has earned statewide recognition including being featured by Arkansas Money & Politics for her contributions to entrepreneurship and downtown revitalization. (AR Money & Politics)

Throughout her first term, Young has emphasized practical, forward thinking solutions over politics, working to improve communication between city government and residents, while championing initiatives that strengthen neighborhoods, and encourage economic development.

If re-elected, Young says her priorities will include:

  • Encouraging transparency, fiscal responsibility, and citizen engagement.

  • Improving infrastructure, parking, and pedestrian accessibility.

  • Supporting responsible public safety investments.

  • Expanding quality-of-life amenities for residents of every age.

  • Supporting smart economic development and attracting new investment.

“I’ve always believed local governments should focus on being problem solvers. Whether it’s supporting our first responders, improving our parks, helping small businesses grow, or making city government more accessible, every decision should make Russellville stronger for the current and next generations.”

Young said she looks forward to continuing conversations with residents throughout the campaign and hearing directly from voters about the issues that matter most to them.

“Our community currently has leadership that listens, plans ahead, and isn’t afraid to think creatively. I want to help continue that trend. Russellville can be, and is, a city where young families choose to stay, businesses choose to invest, and everyone is proud to call home. Together, we’ve made meaningful progress, and together we can accomplish even more.”
